In handling your personal information, Shell Employees' Credit Union Ltd is committed to complying with the Privacy Act 1988, the National Privacy Principles and the Mutual Banking Code of Practice. Collection and Use of Personal Information.
We collect personal information to enable us to:-
- Provide membership benefits to you.
- Provide you with the products and services you require.
- Provide you with information about products and services available to you from Shell Employees' Credit Union and associated businesses, including information about activities at your Credit Union, interest rates, fees and charges, discounts, competitions and special offers by way of your Credit Union’s Member Newsletter which is regularly enclosed with your Credit Union statements.
Providing Your Personal Information to Other Organisations
In providing products and services to you, it may be necessary for us to provide your personal information to other organisations with whom we conduct business. Such organisations include related entities, solicitors and legal advisors, accountants and auditors, printers and mailing services, insurers, collection agents, conveyancers, Credit Union Services Corporation Australia Ltd. And government agencies which regulate our products and services. Your personal information is only provided to those entities to the extent necessary to enable us to provide our products and services to you and to the extent required by law.
Your Consent
If you consent to us doing so, we may also provide you with information or contact you from time to time about specific products and services we believe may be of benefit to you from Shell Employees' Credit Union, or other businesses with whom we have a relationship. Your consent to our providing this information to you will be implied unless you notify us that you do not wish to receive this information. You may do this by contacting our Privacy Officer on 02 9879 8777 and advising them that you do not wish to receive this additional marketing information.
What if You Do Not Wish to Provide Us With Information?
In order to provide products and services to you, we require information about you. If you do not provide us with all of the information we require, we may be unable to accept your application for membership or provide products or services to you. If you do not provide us with your Tax File Number there may also be taxation implications for you.
Your Rights
Under the Privacy Act you have the right to access personal information we hold about you. If the information is incorrect, you have the right to require us to amend the information. Because our members are our owners, we regard privacy as a right and not a privilege. Your Credit Union will do all we can to respect the trust that you have placed in us.
